Members shall at all times conduct themselves in accordance with the core values, which means that they are expected to:
- act with integrity;
- always be honest;
- be open and transparent in their dealings
- be accountable for all their actions;
- know and act within their limitations;
- be objective at all times
- treat others with respect
- set a good example; and
- have the courage to make a stand
In addition, in the course of carrying out any work, the Member or any person acting on his behalf or at his instruction or inducement shall not act in a manner which compromises or impairs, or is likely to compromise or impair, any of the following:
- the integrity of the Member;
- the reputation of the Institution, the surveying profession or other Members;
- the high standards of professional conduct expected of a Member;
- compliance of the code, standard or Practice Statement of the Institution or any statute in force at the time;
- the Member's duty to act in the legitimate interest of his client or employer subject to legal or similar constraints;
- a person's freedom to instruct a Member of his choice.
Standard of Service
A member shall in the performance of his professional work, the conduct of his practice and the duties of his employment provide the standard of service and competence which the Institution can reasonably expect.
